Abatement/Remediation

Abatement and remediation are separate but distinct types of environmental services. Abatement is the removal of a contaminant from a site or encapsulating it in a way that it no longer poses a risk. Remediation addresses the underlying cause of the contamination to prevent future exposure and often includes an abatement strategy. ARM’s abatement and remediation services include the following:

  • Asbestos abatement
  • Lead-based paint abatement
  • Mold abatement
  • COVID-19 decontamination
  • Soil and groundwater abatement and remediation
  • Aggressive Fluid Vapor Recovery (AFVR)

Asbestos

Abatement and remediation

ARM is a qualified asbestos abatement contractor with hundreds of successfully completed projects in this area. Our staff members have the following EPA accredited training and licenses:

  • Asbestos Surveys
  • Asbestos Abatement (friable and non-friable)
  • Asbestos Abatement Project Design and Specifications
  • Asbestos Air Monitoring and Project Management

Lead-based Paint

Buildings constructed before 1978 are likely to contain lead-based paint. ARM’s services in this area include lead paint surveys, x-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy, risk assessment and abatement.

Mold

Mold can pose a respiratory hazard due to the spores that it releases into the air. ARM’s mold-related services include air monitoring, mold assessment, testing and abatement.

Soil and Groundwater

Many industrial processes can introduce contaminants into a property’s soils, which may also affect the groundwater. These abatement services generally involve the removal and proper disposal of impacted soil and groundwater. The remediation procedures for soil and groundwater can vary considerably depending on the specific contaminants and potential receptors involved.

Aggressive Fluid Vapor Recovery

Aggressive Fluid Vapor Recovery (AFVR) removes contaminated fluids and vapors from subsurface soils and groundwater, typically through the use of a high pressure vacuum. It’s a common abatement treatment for leaking underground storage tank (UST) sites and other causes of contaminated groundwater. ARM uses high pressure liquid-ring vacuum trucks to perform aggressive fluid vapor recovery.
